As you might have understood by now, the people here at The Torch really likes social gaming, and what is more social than the Massively Multiplayer Online RPG’s (or MMORPG for short)?

This time we have taken a look at Forsaken World, a game set in a fantasy setting with art styles that borrows a bit from both the west and east and a storyline almost directly taken from south-western mythology. Grab your hammer, sword, axe, rifle, staff or harp and join us on the grand quest of becoming demi-gods, living monuments of valour and heroism.

FW can be a bit hard to get into, many things are like other RPG’s while a lot, lot more goes unexplained… or is it? Right over your mini map you have a small icon that looks like a book. If you click this, you get a LOT of information, divided up for easier finding in level brackets and what category it belongs to. Even with this, it can be hard to figure some of the more unique features out and there isn’t really any central resource bank to find this out from. That is why The Torch has decided to try and teach you all what you need to do to get what you want in Forsaken World.

Following this article will be a series of guides that we have dubbed the “Harbor Guide”, after one of the most notorious of the repeatable quests.

Forsaken World differs a bit from most MMO’s, even other Perfect World MMO’s, mostly for it’s unique way of handling levels and mobs. Each mob has the potential to be an elite, but the majority will be “hated by the gods”, which means the different gods of this world has lowered their damage and health to a level where a single hero can take them down, even if they are a few levels above them. However, it isn’t always apparent if one of them happens to not have this debuff on them and if you accidentally run into one that doesn’t, you’re in for a lot of pain unless you have friends with you.

It also holds your hand a lot, if you know where to look. There are many NPC’s, menus and items that will help you through your path to becoming a demi-god, but they may be hard to find if you don’t know who, what or where they are. You will notice your bags and banks will fill up rapidly with items you probably don’t know what to do with. Do not toss these away, almost everything in the game has a use and you will regret loosing that item once you’ve figured out how to use it.

If you have the patience to learn however, this might be the most fun, most adventurous game you’ll ever play. At times it really feels like you’re a hero, almost a god, but it never takes away that difficulty spike that makes it interesting.
