Today is a day of mourning for everyone related to gaming. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo Global President, has passed away at the age of 55 from cancer. I don’t have the nostalgia for the SNES or the N64 as other do. I came in when rival Sony arrived about with the PlayStation 1. But Iwata, while at the helm of Nintendo, helped not just Nintendo became what it is to day but helped video games have the prominence that we all enjoy today.
“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.”
Satoru Iwata, speaking at the Game Developers Conference in 2005.
Nintendo Global President,
Man of the new industry’s,
You will be missed.
