Today InWorldz celebrated a day in history, when they were able to join the fight against Cancer. Relay for Life came to inWorldz. It was a small and short but a powerful get together that ended with everyone dancing to celebrate a great achievement for the Virtual World. Amongst the speakers was an American Cancer Society representative, who in world is called “Sting RayMaker”. He states:
“ There are so many things that you could be doing with your avatars right now, but you have chosen to make a real difference in the fight against cancer by using the coolest tools at your disposal…a virtual world! First, I want to thank everyone involved with Relay For Life of InWorldz, starting with our Teams, Captains, Volunteers, sponsors, committee members, media partners, and the reason why we Relay…our cancer survivors and their caregivers. It’s important to also recognize the relentless efforts of the people who blazed the trail…who would let no obstacle stand in their way of making this happen. The road to this day has been long and bumpy.
There were many times when it seemed all hope for this event was lost. But, we’re starting to find our way. Starting a Relay event in a community where none previously existed is difficult. Doing it in a virtual world is doubly so. Thank you Hairy and TIGGS and the rest of the committee for carrying the torch this far. Let’s see how much farther we can carry it together.
Sting Raymaker: And because we have a brand new event with new supporters, we all must be patient with one another, as we all learn about Relay For Life. I encourage everyone – from the committee members to the team captains to the team members to collaborate with one another. If someone has an idea, bring it to the group for discussion. We may or may not be able to do it, but it’s certainly worth hearing and talking about.
And finally, let’s remember that we are here to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The Scimago Institutions Ranking (SIR) World Report 2011, which ranks research institutions and organizations on their performance, outcomes, and impact, has ranked the American Cancer Society as #2 in the World Wide ranking and #1 in the United States.”
Event Host and Hostess Hairy Thor and TIGGS Beaumont begun the kick off with a touching video
We were presented with inWorldz’s very own Relay For Life Kiosk and as soon as it was placed 51,000IZ$ (100USD) was raised.
