It’s that time of the year again and every monday up to Christmas, we will give you the countdown of our favourite Christmas Apps and Games for android phones and mobile devices.

The first one we’ll look at is Christmas Games made by Kidgames Studio. This is 5 games in one, all fun and educational.

Memory: This is the classic game of cards where you have to find pairs of christmas-related images. it has over 20 stages, each of them harder than the last and will challenge even the adults ability to memorize positions at the later levels. It has some nice music, but it can be repetitive after a while, especially if you let the kids play it in the car, so there’s the great addition of a mute-button for the music that doesn’t affect the sound effects of the game.

Jigsaw Puzzle: One of the many Christmas images gets cut up into small pieces and it’s up to you to put it back in the right order to complete the image. There’s 9 difficulty levels to chose from. You can see a preview of the image if you don’t know what it is you’re trying to put together, but be careful, if you accidentally hit one of the arrows, you will switch image and your progress will be lost. I found myself sitting with this game for almost an hour.

Shape Puzzle: Like Jigsaw Puzzle, but this time it’s not a rectangular image, but a cut-out shape that you have to put together. Don’t think that a shape makes it easier, at the higher levels, the pieces are so small that you don’t know where they fit until you have done the outside layers. Comes with many pictures and levels, which should keep you busy for a long time.

Connect The Dots: A straight-forward game of follow the numbers. Click on the dot with the next number to draw a line, when you click on the last one you’ll see what it is you have outlined. You might think this is just for kids, but with 15 languages to chose from, you can learn to count in languages like Japanese, Korean or Swedish, as the voice tells you what number you just clicked.

Scratch: Draw your finger over the screen to clear out a piece of the image. This is the least game-like of the 5, but it is also the one with the most creative freedom. With three thicknesses of the pen and three modes, you or your child can create nice effects or frames on the pictures. There’s Block Mode, that blocks out the image with a blue screen. As you draw over the screen, you see more of the image underneath. A creative person might make a nice frame or draw figures on the blue surface. The Black And White mode has a B/W image and as you draw over it, you get colors. A creative person would make kid-friendly Sin City-like imagery. The Frost Mode makes the image look like you’re seeing it through a window with frost all over it. As you draw, you clear some of the frost, making it look like you’re scratching away the frost on the window to peek inside.
